June has been an incredibly fruitful month for Vancouver-based female founders.
- Vancouver-based AVA Technologies, led by CEO Valerie Song, raises $2.6 million of seed capital in an investment round led by Vanedge Capital (I had the privilege of coaching Valerie Song in FWE’s Pitch for the Purse Semi-Finals).
- MetaOptima, led by CEO Maryam Sadeghi, raises $6.5 million (USD) from Skip Capital and AirTree Ventures.
- PayPal acquires Hyperwallet, founded in Vancouver, Canada by Lisa Shields, for $400 million.
These are great examples of seed round, growth-stage investment round, and exit. I hope they inspire more entrepreneurs to take a chance and develop their vision into a business. Congratulations to all and here’s to continued impact and growth!
